As psychologist Rick Hanson notes, evolution has p As psychologist Rick Hanson notes, evolution has primed our brain, and specifically the amygdala, to have a negativity bias. ⠀ ⠀ At one time this bias was necessary for survival. The amygdala is the brain’s alarm center, with strong connections to our emotions and memories. The amygdala uses about about ⅔ of its neurons to watch for negative experiences and once found, these experiences are stored quickly. ⠀ ⠀ For children and teens who have had adverse experiences growing up, the amygdala can be even more sensitive and reactive. For then, the amygdala is like a smoke detector that is placed directly over a cooking surface, making alarm bells go off at the slightest hint of perceived danger. “The alarm bell of your brain — the amygdala — uses about two-thirds of its neurons to look for bad news: it’s primed to go negative.” – Rick Hanson⠀ ⠀ Positive memories and experiences, on the other hand, are much slower to store, often have less intense body sensations, and need more repetition to “stick.” This is why RTT works. It allows you to go into the subconscious where trauma is held and bringing your adult understanding to the situation, you can give it a new interpretation. Look at what triggers you in others' success. Som Look at what triggers you in others' success. Some of my personal favourites from my own journey: "Who does she think she is charging that"?? "Where on earth does she get the time to post this content every day? She must be neglecting herself or or family" "She is being too spiritual. People will think she's a bit too out there" These were pointing a big fat finger right at the areas I needed to heal in myself. And when I did, I could release the parts of me that I had denied so I could: - increase my prices in line with the incredible results my clients get. - put more energy into my work without feeling guilty that I wasn't being wife and mother first and foremost. - start talking more about the spiritual element of the work I do - the connection, the intuition, the Universe, the dropping of the shame shields to reveal the beauty of our true spiritual nature. Recently a client confessed that she was triggered by my generosity. I laughed out loud. But this was great for her to look at because it unveiled a belief in scarcity - that if she was generous, people would just take advantage, it wasn't safe to give because you couldn't be sure you'd get the energy back. This was a huge learning for her. Feel free to share what triggers you below if you'd like any input on how this is blocking you. The other thing, is that what you "hate" in another you will not allow in yourself, because you will fear the same judgement will come back at you if you were the same.
